Companies in dynamics AX are simply an artificial table partition on DataAreaID. All rows in a table with DataAreaID Foo belong to Foo company, the ones with DataAreaID Bar belong to Bar etc.
Given this, the number of companies should have very little impact on the total amount of time needed. Consider only the number of rows in the tables.For the most part If you can upgrade one company you can upgrade them all.
